The set is made from walnut and maple wood to give a striking contrast. The board itself is constructed from 30mm thick blocks making it very durable. Under the base is a generous pad of leather protecting your table’s surface and giving a slight floating appearance to the board.

The pieces although inspired by our Trees were independently designed and thought through to represent the iconic character of each piece in a minimal way. There was a fine balance when designing these chess pieces, they needed to be beautiful to the eye and to the touch but also to be instantly recognizable.

Each game piece is hand turned on a lathe. We then carefully hollow out the base of each piece and fit lead weights to give them the right to feel. It's a lot of extra work but you'll really appreciate how much satisfaction it adds to the game-play.
